1. Legal Status and Nature of the Agreement
- Contractual Definition: This Protection Plan is strictly a service contract administered by Infinity Assurance Solutions Private Limited; it is explicitly not an insurance policy.
- Scope of Obligations: The company’s legal obligations are limited strictly to providing physical repair, parts replacement, or technical servicing for your registered product. This contract does not provide direct financial insurance payouts or monetary benefits for general asset loss or damage.
2. Plan Types & Strict Purchase Timelines
The validity of a customer's claim relies heavily on when they purchased the protection plan relative to their original product purchase date:
- Extended Warranty (EW) Plan: Covers sudden, unexpected electrical or mechanical breakdowns and component defects under normal operating conditions. This coverage begins the day after the original manufacturer’s warranty expires. It must be purchased within the first 9 months of the product purchase date, provided the item has not suffered any prior damage, defect, or operational loss.
- Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) Plan: Covers sudden and unforeseen physical damage caused by external factors—such as accidental drops, structural impacts, or liquid spillages (including water, tea, or coffee)—under normal working conditions. This plan must be purchased on the same day as the original product.
- Screen Damage Protection (SDP) Plan: Provides targeted coverage against sudden external impacts or accidental physical drops that damage the device's display screen. Crucially, this plan only covers the cost of the screen (display module) and associated labor. If an accident damages internal components or external casings alongside the screen, the cost of repairing those non-screen parts must be paid entirely by the customer. This plan must be purchased on the same day as the original product.
- Combo Protection Plan (CPP): A bundled contract linking two or more individual coverage types (such as Extended Warranty + Accidental Damage Protection or Extended Warranty + Screen Damage Protection) under a single service plan. This combo plan must be purchased on the same day as the original product.
3. Product Eligibility & Immediate Voiding Triggers
Before completing a purchase, customers must verify that their device meets these mandatory baseline parameters. Non-compliance will cause the plan to be voided without a refund:
- Strict Personal Use Only: This plan is explicitly designed and priced for brand-new products used solely for personal, domestic, residential, and household purposes within a private dwelling. If a product is used even partially for commercial, trade, institutional, professional, rental, office, or profit-making activities, all coverage is completely voided. This exclusion applies to equipment deployed in shops, showrooms, retail outlets, commercial establishments, hotels, paying guest accommodations, rental properties, clinics, schools, gyms, cafes, cloud kitchens, or commercial content creation setups. Occasional work-from-home or remote administrative tasks are permitted only if the usage intensity remains completely consistent with ordinary residential wear and the device is not used to provide direct paid services to third parties.
- Sourcing and Documentation: The plan covers only brand-new items carrying an active manufacturer or brand warranty in India. Pre-owned, refurbished, supplier-warranted, unbranded, assembled, gifted, secondary-sale, or parallel-imported items are entirely excluded. The customer must possess a valid, genuine purchase invoice featuring their name and a proper GST breakdown.
- Device Age Limit: The manufacturing date of the equipment must be within 1 year of its original retail purchase date. Customers must verify this from the serial number plate or printed materials on their device before buying the plan.
- Exclusivity Constraints: The device must not be covered under any other insurance, third-party extended warranty, damage protection plan, or annual maintenance contract (AMC). Only one InfyShield plan can be registered against an individual product serial or IMEI number.
- Mandatory 7-Day Registration Window: Plan registration and document uploading are mandatory and must be completed within 7 days of product purchase. While genuine delays may allow an extension up to 15 days, any unregistered or inactivated plan is treated as automatically cancelled, removing all service obligations and eliminating refund eligibility.
4. Mandatory Upfront Claim Processing Fees (Service Order Charges)
When submitting a claim, customers are subject to structural processing fees that must be paid upfront within 3 business days of call logging; otherwise, the service request will be permanently closed.
- Extended Warranty (EW) Claims: These service requests are completely free, and zero processing charges are applied.
- ADP, SDP, and Combo Claims: A non-refundable Service Order Charge is strictly mandatory for every unique claim logged. This processing fee scales directly with the original purchase price of the product:
| Product Purchase Price Range | Mandatory Service Order Charge |
|---|
| Up to ₹10,000 | ₹500 |
| ₹10,001 to ₹15,000 | ₹750 |
| ₹15,001 to ₹20,000 | ₹1,000 |
| ₹20,001 to ₹30,000 | ₹1,200 |
| ₹30,001 to ₹40,000 | ₹1,300 |
| ₹40,001 to ₹50,000 | ₹1,500 |
| Above ₹50,000 | 3% of the Product Purchase Price (or whichever is higher) |
Important Refund Clause: If a claim under an accidental or combo plan undergoes diagnosis and the technician finds zero accidental damage—discovering only a standard mechanical or electrical breakdown covered under EW terms—the paid Service Order Charge will be fully refunded to the customer. Refusal to pay these fees or structural depreciation amounts automatically terminates the entire plan without a refund.
5. Major General Exclusions (What is NOT Covered)
The customer must explicitly acknowledge that the following scenarios, components, and parts are completely excluded from coverage across all protection plans:
- Normal Wear and Tear: Gradual, expected functional or cosmetic deterioration resulting from ordinary, proper usage over time is not covered. This specific exclusion applies to declining battery capacities over months or years, keyboard keys becoming less responsive with age, speaker volume gradually lowering, display screens dimming over time, laptop hinges loosening from repeated opening, naturally wearing printer rollers, and belts or gaskets losing their elasticity.
- Cosmetic Damages: Surface-level scratches, minor dents, peeling paint, or slight discoloration on external casings, frames, or bezels that do not disrupt or impair the device's actual mechanical operation are excluded.
- Excluded Body Parts & Consumables: Physical body casings, plastic molded sections, unit bases, front/back covers, bezels, appliance doors (including evaporator doors), shelves, racks, cabinet frames, handles, knobs, decorative components, gaskets, concealed or cooling coils, condenser coils, external hoses, connecting pipes, dust bags, honeycomb cooling pads, microwave glass plates or cavities, fuses, circuit breakers, water/air/lint filters, RO purification membranes, internal water storage tanks, physical taps, buttons, printer ink tanks, toners, print heads, cartridges, fan blades, blowers, rollers, and appliance gas top-ups or refilling.
- Batteries & Cells: All types of cells and internal/external batteries are completely excluded from coverage, even if they are damaged during an eligible accident or require mandatory replacement according to manufacturer design guidelines.
- External Accessories: External items such as power adapters, charging bricks, battery cords, standalone voltage stabilizers, UPS systems, HDMI/AV cables, remote controls, stylus pens, external memory cards, power banks, wall mounts, stands, fixtures, mixer or grinder jars, and external attachments are fully excluded.
- Power and Environmental Fluctuations: Any defect, component burnout, or operational failure triggered by external power surges, sudden power dips, electrical fluctuations, or faulty/improper grounding is excluded. Customers are advised to implement personal voltage protection devices like surge protectors or stabilizers.
- Aggravated Damage & Delayed Reporting: The plan covers only the precise scope of the initial defect or damage as assessed when it is first reported. Any additional or worsened damage caused by continuing to operate a malfunctioning device, delaying your claim submission, or failing to take immediate preventive care is entirely excluded.
- Software & Data Liability: Operational failures caused by operating systems, antivirus software, localized applications, firmware bugs, malware infection, configuration setups, or data recovery operations are completely excluded. The customer is solely responsible for backing up all personal and confidential data prior to handing over the device.
- Incidental Scenarios: Misplacement, theft, burglary, mysterious disappearance, animal/insect infestation (such as rats or cockroaches), willful or intentional damage, and events occurring outside the geographic borders of India are excluded.
6. Operational Service Delivery Limitations
- Onsite Service Radius Constraint: Onsite technician dispatches are supported natively. However, if the registered product address sits more than 30 kilometers away from the nearest authorized service center, the customer must personally carry the malfunctioning machine to the center at their own risk and cost, and collect it post-repair. Alternatively, onsite visits past the 30 km mark can be scheduled only if the customer agrees to bear all additional travel and incidental courier expenses upfront.
- Pick-up and Delivery (PUDO) Liability Cap: PUDO services are completely complimentary and non-obligatory within specific municipal town limits for eligible personal devices. However, if an item is lost, misplaced, or physically destroyed while in transit via third-party courier channels, InfyShield's financial liability is strictly capped at a maximum of ₹3,000 or the current market value of the product, whichever is lower. Dispatching items in their original factory retail box is highly recommended, and logistics drivers can refuse collection if the packaging is deemed unsafe.
- Extended Commercial Repair Delay Protection: If a product remains stuck inside an authorized service facility for more than 45 consecutive days without resolution, InfyShield reserves the right to settle the service request by paying the net cost of the approved repair estimate directly.
- Manufacturer Insolvency / Market Exit Clause: If the original product manufacturer winds up their domestic operations, closes down service networks, or systematically refuses to supply internal spare parts for your specific model, InfyShield's maximal liability under this agreement is strictly limited to a refund of the original protection plan fee paid by you. Any prior diagnostic or attempted service costs will be borne by the customer.
7. Financial Liability Limits, Total Loss, and Depreciation
- Cumulative Liability Ceiling: The collective economic cost of all successful repair claims delivered over the life of your plan can never exceed the product's original purchase price or its prevailing market price minus applicable taxes.
- Beyond Economical Repair (BER) & Total Loss Calculations: If a device is evaluated as unfixable or the estimated parts cost exceeds its current value, InfyShield will settle the claim via a replacement unit or a direct cash Service Benefit payment. This payment is calculated by taking the lower value of your original purchase price or the prevailing market price and applying a mandatory depreciation deduction based on the exact number of months elapsed from the product purchase date to the service request date:
| Months Elapsed Since Purchase | Mobiles & Tablets | Laptops | Televisions | Other Products & Appliances |
|---|
| 0 – 3 Months | 20% | 15% | 25% | 15% |
| 4 – 6 Months | 30% | 22% | 25% | 15% |
| 7 – 9 Months | 40% | 30% | 25% | 15% |
| 10 – 12 Months | 50% | 40% | 25% | 15% |
| 13 – 18 Months | 60% | 50% | 40% | 25% |
| 19 – 24 Months | 75% | 55% | 40% | 25% |
| 25 – 36 Months | Plan Not Offered | 70% | 60% | 40% |
| 37 – 48 Months | Plan Not Offered | Plan Not Offered | 75% | 60% |
| 48 – 60 Months | Plan Not Offered | Plan Not Offered | 75% | 75% |
Mandatory Box Deductions: If a total loss or BER cash settlement is triggered and the customer fails to return the original retail packaging box for smartphones, tablets, personal gadgets, laptops, or cameras, a penalty deduction of ₹500 or 2% of the original product purchase price (whichever value is higher) will be permanently subtracted from their payout. Missing accessories or cords will be deducted at their prevailing retail values. Furthermore, once a replacement or cash settlement is issued, the physical ownership of your broken device transfers entirely to Infinity Assurance.
8. Free-Look Period, Cancellation & Transfers
- The Strict 7-Day Window: Customers are granted an explicit 7-business-day free-look window starting from the exact date of purchase to cancel their protection plan and receive a 100% full refund of the fee paid. Once these 7 business days elapse, no cancellations are permitted, and absolutely no premium refunds will be processed under any circumstances.
- Ownership Transfer Rules: This service agreement is personal to the registered buyer and cannot be transferred to a new owner, a different product serial number, or a separate party. The singular exception is if the original manufacturer officially replaces the entire unit under their own primary warranty period with an identical model; the customer must notify InfyShield in writing within 3 business days with official documentation to transfer the remaining balance period of their coverage.
